Identification of Encephalartos princeps

Encephalartos princes
The unbranched aerial stem is erect but sometimes become decumbent and suckers freely.
It can attain  a length of up to 5 m. and diameter of 300-400 mm.
Initially they are blue green with a silverybloom on the upper side and dull and even darker blue-green
color on the lower side . Later the leaves take on a duller and greener but similar เหมือนกัน color on both sides.
The leaves are straight but the curve downward near the apex. They are rigid ,1.0-1.3 m long and do not sag
noticeably prior to emergence of a new leaves, but they do droop when cones emerge. The rachises of old
dead leaves remain attached to the stem for long time in an untidy arrangement. The pp-angel 20-90 at the
leaf apex , and increases to 120-140 at the blade’sใบ base. The s-angle is +80 to 90 at the leaf apex and
decrease to approximately 0-+10 at the blade’s base. Leaflets shield เครื่องบัง one another incubously
 in the apical ยอด half of the leaf. Petiole 120-200mm. long with the leaf base having a conspicuous
yellow - brown collar. Median leaflets: 120-150 mm long, 10-13 mm wide, leathery and almost always
without nodules. Leaflets usually have entire margins but they can have a solitary small pungent tooth on
the phylloproximal margins. Leaflet margins are unthickened and not recurved. The upper side of the leaflets
is very slightly concave transversely and straight longitudinally. The leaflet apex is pungent.
Basal leaflets: These decrease in size basipetally to one or two spines at the most.
